Introducing KnowledgeMonkey — your AI-native second brain

Today we're opening up KnowledgeMonkey to the world. Here's why we built it, what it does, and how to take it for a swing.

Today we're opening up KnowledgeMonkey to the world. Here's why we built it, what it does, and how to take it for a swing.

We use AI more than ever — and lose more brilliant conversations than ever. Today we’re opening up KnowledgeMonkey, the place we wished existed: an AI-native home for everything you learn, plan, and create with AI by your side.

The problem we kept hitting

Every week, we’d have a chat with an LLM that solved a real problem — a clever prompt for a course outline, a deep technical answer, a perfectly-phrased argument. A week later? Gone. Buried in a thread, lost in a sidebar, never to return.

Linear chat is a brilliant interface for exploring. It is a terrible interface for keeping.

What KnowledgeMonkey does

KnowledgeMonkey turns the artefacts of your AI life into a living second brain.

  • Capture notes, voice memos, pasted answers and YouTube links — anything becomes a “knowledge chunk.”
  • Organize chunks into trees, mind maps or simple lists. Same data, three lenses.
  • Talk to it, hands-free. Walking, driving, cooking — your brain comes with you.
  • Pick your LLM per project: GPT, Claude, Perplexity, and a growing list.
  • Search semantically — by meaning, not keywords. Scale to thousands of chunks without losing the thread.
  • Share any project as read-only or open it up for contributors.
  • Export everything, anytime, as Markdown, plain text or CSV. No lock-in. Ever.

Built AI-native, not AI-bolted-on

A lot of apps are bolting “Ask AI” buttons onto a 2015 interface. We started from a blank page and asked: if an LLM had been in the loop from day one, what would the UI even look like?

The answer turned out to be: voice-first, chunk-shaped, multi-LLM, semantic-by-default, and yours to keep.

Free forever core

The full core of KnowledgeMonkey is free, on every platform — web, iOS and Android. The only catch: on Free, you bring your own LLM API key. Pro removes that step with bundled cloud LLM credits, premium voices and advanced sharing.

How to start

Open the app and tap “New project.” Try one of the flagship use cases — capture notes from your last AI chat, build a 10-lesson course on something you’ve always wanted to learn, or dictate a chapter on your next walk.

We’d love to see what you build with it.
